Steve Jobs’ story is not one of smooth beginnings. Born in 1955 and put up for adoption, he was raised by a working-class couple in California. With no silver spoon, no fancy degree, and no clear path, he carved out a destiny that would change the world.
A Dropout with a Vision
Jobs briefly attended Reed College, but dropped out after one semester. With no money and no plan, he slept on floors, returned soda bottles for food money, and attended calligraphy classes experiences that would later shape Apple’s distinctive design style. In 1976, at age 21, Jobs co-founded Apple in his parents’ garage with Steve Wozniak. Their first product, the Apple I, wasn’t flashy but it was the start of something revolutionary. Jobs believed computers could be personal, beautiful, and intuitive.
The Rise, the Fall, and the Unthinkable Comeback
Under Jobs’ leadership, Apple became a major player in the tech world. But in 1985, he was fired from his own company a stunning fall from grace.
He didn’t give up. He launched NeXT, and acquired Pixar, which became a pioneer in animated films. When Apple was on the verge of collapse in 1997, it bought NeXT bringing Jobs back home.
What followed was one of the greatest comebacks in business history. Jobs introduced the iMac, iPod, iPhone, and iPad, transforming Apple into a brand that combined innovation with elegance.
A Life Cut Short, A Legacy That Lives On
In 2003, Jobs was diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer. Despite health battles, he continued to lead Apple and unveil world-changing products. He stepped down as CEO in 2011, just months before his passing at the age of 56.
Today, Apple stands as a $2 trillion empire, and Jobs’ legacy lives in every swipe, click, and tap.“Your time is limited,” he once said, “so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.”
